SOFT RESISTANCE – HOW ART OPPOSES COLONIAL LEGACIES
Play & Pleasuere findet in einem sogenannten OFF-Space statt. Wir konnten einen Rohbau anmieten und nach unseren Vorstellungen gestalten. Das bedeutet viel Freiheiten, aber eben auch viele Kompromisse. Was verändert sich, wenn wir eine tradierte Institution gehen? Welche Umstände verändern sich oder werden sanft in Frage gestellt? Ist die Publikumsdynamik anders? Die Haltung urban und westlich geprägt? Ist der Name HDKV mit seinen über 150 Wirkungsjahren ein Stempel?
Die Wirkung des Kontexts ist heute Inhalt unseres Gesprächs, den Larissa im Anschluss an das Screening der beiden Videoarbeiten von Lerato Shadi und Ivana de Vivanco gestalten wird.
Dr. Larissa-Diana Fuhrmann ist Wissenschaftlerin und Kuratorin mit Fokus auf politische Gewalt, Kunst, Ko-Produktion von Wissen und kollektive Arbeitsweisen. Sie untersucht, wie politische Gewalt verhandelt, dargestellt und durch verschiedene Wissensformen erfahrbar gemacht wird. Widerständige und dekoloniale Ansätze sind zentral in ihrer Arbeit, ebenso wie ihre Auseinandersetzung mit kreativen Formen der Wissensproduktion und -vermittlung. In den letzten Jahren publizierte sie in unterschiedlichen Medien, kuratierte zahlreiche Ausstellungen, beriet Kulturinstitutionen und leitete Workshops zu kritischer kuratorischer Praxis sowie politisch engagierter Kunst.

Play & Pleasure takes place in what is known as an off-space. We were able to rent an unfinished building shell and shape it according to our vision. This offers great freedom, but also many compromises. What changes when we enter a traditional institution? Which circumstances shift or are gently questioned? Does the audience dynamic change? Is the perspective more urban and Western? Does the name HDKV, with its 150 years of institutional history, carry a certain stamp?
The influence of context is the focus of today’s conversation, which Larissa will lead following the screening of two video works by Lerato Shadi and Ivana de Vivanco.
Dr. Larissa-Diana Fuhrmann is a researcher and curator focusing on political violence, art, co-production of knowledge, and collective working methods. Her work explores how political violence is negotiated, represented, and made tangible through different forms of knowledge. Resistant and decolonial approaches are central to her practice, as is her engagement with creative forms of knowledge production and mediation. In recent years, she has published across various media, curated numerous exhibitions, advised cultural institutions, and led workshops on critical curatorial practice and politically engaged art.
